Stuff

Well its been a while since my last post, this is mainly because since rejoining the world of the working I really haven't done much other than work!

Below is a typical schedule of my day since the beginning of May:

0630: Wake up
0700: Leave the flat
0800: Get to work
1800: Leave work
1900: Learn Cantonese (run by the VTC)
2130: Get the Bus home
2200: Get home, shower, eat and sleep.

This is not a whine, I came into this with my eyes wide open and knew it would be hard work, but from reading the above its hardly what I would call "living it up".

One the subject of Cantonese I must say if you are an expat and you feel the need to learn the language of the Hong Kong (IMHO if you are living here why wouldn't you!) then give the VTC a call, I am now on the second course.

"Cing yat m'sai faan gung" so I will be off to watch the dragon boat racing in Stanley, pictures to follow...

The Little Things that please me

Today as i walked into my local Fairwoods (as i seem to do a lot at the moment) i was greeted by the sheer look of horror from the attendant as they realised that they may actually have to speak english, after ordering my favorite ("Sei Bo Faan" with a "Hor Lok') in cantonese i must say it did feel quite rewarding.

I am also now able to pick up on most simple conversations which most of the time is pretty cool/amusing, should the conversation get offensive towards me all it takes is a tap on the shoulder followed by the phraze "Gau Cho a lei, Orh Sik Teng Jung Mun" which so far has always been enough to stop the racist tones.

So i must say a big thank you to ChinaDroll and her brilliant Canto Podcasts which i have been supplementing with this.

Its a wonderful day outside so i am off to do some hiking in Lau Fau Shan, pictures to follow!

Does anyone know of any pubs that will be showing the Eff One this weekend?
